Kendall Poole Consulting are proud to represent one of the fastest growing precision engineering and manufacturing companies in the UK in their search for a Quality & Continuous Improvement Director. Our client works from new concept design and manufacture, all the way through to finished product assembly with customers from start-ups and global giants in the technology, pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device industries. Reporting to the CEO, a permanent vacancy now exists for a Quality & Continuous Improvement Director to join a dynamic team. As an Agent of Change, you will influence the strategy, lead and coordinate Quality fostering operational excellence through CI activities along the value chain across multiple sites.  The remit is to improve the financial performance of the business by leading the delivery of world class systems and the continual improvement of products and processes.

 

The Role:

  • Establish and lead CI strategy to introduce and maintain 6S, Lean Principles in reduction of Lead Times through removal of Waste, Use of Six Sigma measurement and methodologies to reduce variation and DMAIC / 8D approach to solving problems through Teams
  • Establish and deliver an ongoing programme that uses Lean Manufacturing methodologies to facilitate both SMT and team led improvement activity: Kaizen, Lean, 6σ, 6S to drive all ‘wastes’ from the business
  • Support and design the implementation of the future state Manufacturing Value Chain, incorporating best in class systems, technology and processes
  • Establish and develop the QSHE systems in order to conform to the required ISO standards
  • Manage external assessment bodies related to accreditation and identify and evaluate any future quality accreditations
  • Be the “Customer Face” of Quality – liaise with customers at a high level of technical status building positive relations based on partnerships, trust and a track record of world class customer service
  • Improve the company’s existing product development process, quality procedures, standards and specifications from quotation to invoicing

 

The Person:

  • High achiever academically within an Engineering or Scientific related discipline, with associated professional qualifications in Quality (Audit), CQI or equivalent
  • Ideally you will be Six Sigma qualified, ideally Black Belt trained within a world class Lean and CI focused environment
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to develop long term vision aligned with business objectives and a roadmap of how to get there
  • Proven technical leadership experience in QMS and Assurance leading a CI & QSHE function within the Manufacturing / Engineering sector within a technically diverse, process orientated multi-site business
  • Having previously implemented, monitored and controlled all quality systems (including Quality (ISO9001 / 15), Health & Safety standards (BS7799, BS15000, 18001), Environmental (ISO14001)
  • Extensive use of Advanced Quality & CI methods (FMEA, Control Plans, 8D, LEAN methodology, 6S, SPC, Value Chain Management) supporting zero defect initiatives
  • Proven supplier development experience ensuring partners are synchronized and compliant
  • A tenacious character who challenges the ‘status quo’ and can manage upwards as well as downwards, you will continuously strive for improvements in ways of working, processes and approaches to problem solving
  • An Agent of Change, you will create a culture of excellence, possess well-honed influencing skills with the ability to devise and deliver business process improvements recommending effective solutions to enhance quality and efficiency
  • Energetic and resilient character able to effectively build relationships and credibility
