Salary: c£55,000 + Benefits

Our client is a designer and manufacturer of high quality, reliable and performance driven systems, providing expert solutions and personal support for clients in the built environment, through local knowledge combined with international representation.  Based on the M4 corridor, due to expansion, a period of sustained growth and considerable investment in the facility and plant, a vacancy exists for a Maintenance Manager.  Reporting to the Operations & Technology Director, the Maintenance Manager will be responsible for the safe and effective delivery of the maintenance strategy. Working in partnership with the Operations Team, the Maintenance Manager will coordinate all activities and optimise the availability of the facility, its performance and quality.

The Role:

  • Manage a multi-disciplinary team of technicians and engineers covering all aspects of maintenance and facilities related work
  • Lead, train and coach the maintenance team bringing members up to date with current methods and programs in preparation of handling any eventuality
  • Continually plan, schedule, supervise and perform the day-to-day general maintenance and fault diagnosis and repair across the facility from paint shop, semi-automated packing lines, a range of liquid pumps, valves and heating elements in pre-treatment and wastewater treatment plant
  • Ensure all equipment remains in proper working order and complies with standard operating procedures and safety standards
  • Respond to emergency calls for maintenance and facilities related issues and co-ordinate the activities of the emergency response team
  • Coordinate with external contractors to perform activities, repairs, and preventive maintenance on equipment
  • Use performance management techniques to monitor and demonstrate achievement of agreed service levels and to lead on improvement
  • Monitor and analyse technical and legal standards
  • Work closely with the HSE Manager to advise on the maintenance and upkeep of range of specialist areas, e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery
  • Create development and contingency plans for key site equipment
  • Develop the sites computerized maintenance management system to support the PM program, the generation of KPIs and Continuous Improvement

The Person: 

  • Ideally you will be HND/Degree level or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering with proven capability of using a range of software diagnostic tools (PLCs / supervisory software) to identify faults and take appropriate action
  • Having previously worked at a supervisory level within an Engineering/Manufacturing environment you will have a strong understanding of PPM and champion the culture of planned preventative maintenance
  • You will also display competence in pneumatic / mechanical control systems and electro / mechanical control systems having a strong understanding of engineering best practice
  • Responsible for leading a team of Technicians, you will be able to motivate others, influence and manage change
  • Having an analytical approach to problem solving, you will be able to work well under pressure and adapt plans to changing environment
  • A strong communicator is sought with the ability to quickly gain credibility with technical and non-technical staff
