Kendall Poole Consulting are proud to represent a well-known manufacturing and installation Group in their search for a Material Controller.  This client has a creative approach to developing residential and commercial solutions which has helped move the industry forward providing positive outcomes ultimately for consumers and society. Reporting to the Plant Manager, a permanent vacancy now exists for a Production Planning Professional with supervisory experience.  This is an exciting time to join a business which is agile, forward thinking and investing in training and development of their valued employees.


The Role:

  • Drive resource planning to ensure that all materials are ordered and effectively managed in order to meet both internal and external requirements
  • Develop and implement new Material Planning and Logistic processes and systems
  • Control and maintain ERP/MRP System
  • Work with suppliers and have cross functionally with Warehouse, Procurement and Logistics to ensure timely delivery of incoming products
  • Responsible for purchasing longer lead time products working closely with strategic sourcing when negotiating agreements
  • Coordinate deliveries of orders, support and ensure stock accuracy and transactional precision within operations and business systems data
  • Assist with investigating raw material variances and actions to correct data
  • Monitoring and reporting of slow and obsolete materials
  • Forecasting levels of demand for materials and services holding minimum inventory; adjusting as appropriate in reaction to changes in demand (lean methodology / cost & waste reduction measures) 
  • Act as focal point for the materials replenishment process on site, ensuring balanced inventory requirements with space constraints
  • Supporting the improvement of OTD and service levels to drive customer satisfaction and generate value
  • Supporting systems development including MRP and PO suggestions reporting safety stock levels, max/min/required stock levels, sub-contracting
  • Undertake regular supplier development and vendor rating to drive service improvement and provide a measure for the quality of service provided
  • Champion New Product Launch and Material Sign Off (MSO)


The Person:

  • An academic achiever, Materials/Logistics Diploma or degree equivalent
  • Previous Production Planning, Scheduling, Material Control or Material Management experience within a fast-paced manufacturing environment working to world class standards
  • Deep understanding of Inventory Control processes using MRP systems
  • Proven supervisory skills within an MP&L function at senior or TL level
  • Knowledge of fabrication and glass technology may be advantageous
  • An appreciation of working in a Lean environment, knowledge of 5S, Kaizen, Gemba
  • Very customer driven with a collaborative working style, team player, able to lead from the front
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills
  • Problem-solver, numerical, analytical thinker, logical and systematic approach
  • Computer literate MS Office - MRP/ERP Systems, Microsoft Packages
