Location: Sunderland

The Opportunity:

  • Reporting into the Materials Manager, you will ensure continuous flow of raw materials to production within budgetary limitations
  • Leading from the front, you be providing direction and management of the expediting team which currently has four reports
  • Attend daily senior production critical meetings and report on the material flow and sustainability, highlighting any issues you have or anticipate
  • You will be establishing and maintaining effective systems and processes which encourage accountability for specific tasks and objectives within your team
  • You will introduce standardised work for the expediting team and audit the compliance and effectiveness to ensure they are working the best ways they can, using modern people metrics
  • Supplier and Customer partnerships are at the heart of this role and you will need to drive and ensure effective material flow and suitable delivery, communicating issues and successes
  • The production of the successful facility depends on the success of this role and you will monitor / manage supplier risk and the supply
  • To operate in a world-class environment, you will manage data integrity metrics to ensure SOX compliance and accuracy of the advanced materials software systems we have MRP/ERP
  • Manage monthly budgets on Inventory and Freight, declaring any excesses outside of normal parameters and identifying ways to reduce these
  • You will complete annual performance appraisals for all subordinates and set performance goals for the next year

 

The Person:

  • You will have a good understanding of continual improvement and will have made effective changes in your previous roles
  • You will have good people management experience at a supervisory level and be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills to foster teamwork and achieve the business objectives, recognising and responding to customer expectations with a drive for results
  • You will be analytically and methodically minded, people and data-driven with the ability to demonstrate innovation in decision making and problem-solving using your own initiative
  • You will have a strong working knowledge of MRP systems, preferably QAD, JIT philosophies and Microsoft applications
