LOCATION: Brownhills, Walsall                                                          

SALARY: c£42,000 - £45,000 + Bonus + Benefits


Reporting directly to the Works Engineer and part of a team of fully skilled Engineers you will be the Mechanical Maintenance Fitter on the day shift responding to breakdowns as a priority to ensure plant uptime is kept at a premium. 


The Role:

  • Assist in the analysis of breakdowns and establishing route courses and implementation of corrective action
  • Contributing towards Total Preventative Maintenance system (TPM) proactive checks being completed on time
  • Overhauling, repairing and refurbishing parts and equipment in the maintenance workshop outside of breakdowns and TPMs
  • Fulfil parts requisitions on the completion of work to ensure stock levels are retained hence minimizing downtime
  • Assist with ongoing project work, new equipment installation and factory improvements
  • Nurture and assist the up-and-coming apprentices through their time by passing on valuable skills and knowledge
  • Liaise with colleagues on different shift patterns handing over work and reporting any issues across shifts
  • Undertake any training, either internally or externally, to improve performance and capabilities
  • Occasionally work outside of your shift pattern when cover is required

The Person:

  • You will be qualified in Mechanical Engineering to ONC/HNC/HND or NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, BTEC or similar or be a Time Served Apprentice working in the manufacturing sector
  • Solid work history and experience within a mechanical fitting position with experience of servicing and repairing components
  • Good competency with hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings
  • Ability to weld, grind and use oxygen/acetylene bottles
  • A forklift truck or IPAF license is desirable but not essential
  • Flexibility for shift patterns on days
