Kendall Poole Consulting are proud to represent a market leading iron casting and machining group based in the UK, supplying both the domestic and export markets. Our client undertakes the design, including virtual analysis, of Ductile and SG Iron castings, can produce rapid prototypes and pre-series castings using full production processes, as well as producing serial quantities of fully machined ductile iron castings and sub-assemblies. All the facilities are certified to TS16949, ISO9001 and ISO14001, and they invest constantly in human resources and capital equipment. As a result of this, they combine state of the art production facilities with world class technical expertise.
The Role:
Reporting to the CEO, the Operations Director will be responsible for improving processes across Production and the Supply Chain. As well as introducing smarter ways of working to support the OTIF delivery of safety critical products for multiple applications, you will support the implementation of Continual Improvement initiatives ensuring that people and process are aligned with strategic objectives. You will be tasked with delivering exceptional results to QCD measures operating to world class levels. You will be highly visible with the demanding customer base and support the business strategy for operational efficiency in a period of high demand and capacity constraints.
The Person:
The successful person will be a high achiever academically with an Engineering, Manufacturing / Operations or Scientific qualification and ideally Six Sigma qualified and well versed in Lean. Already a visible, hands-on Operations Director, Director of Operations, Head of Operations or Manufacturing / Production Lead, within a complex, low volume, high value, medium sized metal based or machining engineering business, you will display a passion for people and producing technically complex products. Knowledge of the foundry industry / casting processes would be beneficial but is not essential. Ideally with some commercial knowledge, you may well have led a BU to success and have strong financial acumen.
