Kendall Poole Consulting are proud to represent a well-known manufacturing and installation Group in their search for a Production Planner. This client has a creative approach to developing residential and commercial solutions which has helped move the industry forward providing positive outcomes ultimately for consumers and society. Reporting to the Plant Manager, a permanent vacancy now exists for a Production Planning professional with experience gained in the manufacturing sector.  This is an exciting time to join a business which is agile, forward thinking and investing in training and development of their valued employees.


The Role:

  • High level capacity planning for all aspects of production across product ranges
  • Monitor and report progress vs business plans
  • Planning and monitoring supply to all customers
  • Review the existing planning systems and processes. Identify opportunities for improvements and manage the introduction of enhancements required for the new business environment
  • Compiling status and performance reports and submitting them to management
  • Promptly informing the relevant departments of changes to current production schedules
  • Manage the forecast model and related refresh processes
  • Measure forecast accuracy, analyse errors to understand the reasons with the aim to remove the cause of these errors from the current forecast and future forecasts
  • Develop enhancements to the forecast model with specific focus on slimming the refresh lead times along with sustaining better data accuracy within the model between refreshes
  • Engage with the different functions including sales teams to understand their future demand and reflect this in the forecast and keep the relevant members of the planning and production team informed of upcoming demand
  • Monitor any ongoing NPI projects and engineering changes to ensure they are progressed within agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and are reflected in the forecast
  • Review the monthly OTIF/OTD results, coordinate data collection and root cause analysis activities with aim of producing and implementing corrective actions
  • Cover for other activities within the planning function as and when required


The Person:

  • An academic achiever
  • Previous Production Planning, Scheduling, Forecasting, Capacity and Demand Planning experience within a fast-paced manufacturing environment working to world class standards
  • Deep understanding of Inventory Control processes using MRP systems
  • Knowledge of fabrication and glass technology may be advantageous but not essential
  • An appreciation of working in a continual improvement and Lean environment, knowledge of 5S, Kaizen, Gemba
  • Very customer driven with a collaborative working style, team player, able to lead from the front
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills
  • Problem-solver, numerical, analytical thinker, logical and systematic approach, data rational
  • Computer literate MS Office - MRP/ERP Systems, Microsoft Packages
