Location: Wednesbury, West Midlands

Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 + Benefits

 

Our client is the largest global automotive seating supplier, with 75,000 employees operating in 230 manufacturing / assembly plants in 33 countries worldwide, producing and delivering automotive seating for all vehicle classes and all major OEM’s. From complete seating systems to individual components, their expertise spans every step of the automotive seat-making process. Reporting into the Quality Manager, a permanent vacancy now exists for a Quality Engineer.

 

The Role:

  • To ensure customer and internally identified quality issues are resolved using the problem-solving methods (8D Report, Problem Solving Document “PSD”, PCAD, Kepner-Tregoe, etc.)
  • Prepare necessary corrective/preventive actions, follow up, verification and release of corrective actions
  • Assure that all Quality activities are performed according to BOS-, TS 16 949-, ISO 9000 standards and specific customer requirements
  • To execute the management representative duties: ensure that BOS processes are implemented, maintained and highlight any need for improvement
  • Ensures the promotion of awareness of customer requirements throughout the plant
  • Ensure response to customer issues in a timely manner, implement containment and champion problem solving through initiating customer responses and action plans
  • Evaluate results of customer product audits and provide feedback to the organisation (e.g., production, engineering etc.)
  • Support customers regarding corrective and preventative actions
  • Analyse parts returned through warranty system together with the responsible BU Engineer 
  • Maintain local Quality System according to the requirements of BOS, TS 16 949, ISO 9000
  • Develop and train plant personnel in the application of methodologies and techniques
  • Apply, execute and maintain function related BOS issues 
  • In addition to the above mentioned tasks other activities and responsibilities may be individually defined

 

The Person:

  • Proven background in a customer facing Quality role, ideally holding a professionally recognised Quality Engineering and/or Audit certificate
  • With a good understanding of QMS and processes you will have Manufacturing/Assembly experience
  • Educated to degree level preferably in Quality Management or other appropriate Business Degrees
  • Strong knowledge and training in Quality disciplines including as a minimum QS9000, Continuous Improvement, Total Quality Management, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, DOE and SPC
  • A good understanding of the AIAG Quality planning and Control Plan standard, Dimensional Layouts, Gage/Fixture Design and Performance/Material testing
  • Having some auditing experience, you will demonstrate a collaborative style, be logical and systematic with well-honed problem-solving skills
  • Very customer-driven, collaborative working style, team player
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills, good attention to detail
  • Professional, personable and approachable
  • Problem-solver, logical and systematic approach, critical thinker and ability to work on own initiative
  • Microsoft Packages, IT literate
