QUALITY ENGINEER

Location: Cambridgeshire
Salary: c£40,000 - £50,000 DOE
Kendall Poole Consulting are proud to represent one of the fastest growing precision engineering and manufacturing companies in the UK in their search for a Quality Engineer. Our client works from new concept design and manufacture, all the way through to finished product assembly with customers from start-ups and global giants in the technology, pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device industries. Reporting to the Quality Manager, a permanent vacancy now exists for a Quality Engineer to join a dynamic team.
The Role:
- Support the establishment, monitoring & maintenance of the Company's Quality Standards
- Develop the company's Quality procedures and management system to ensure that best practice is achieved
- Review daily, weekly and monthly data to identify waste drivers and improve overall quality targets
- Organise and lead cross functional problem-solving teams through root cause identification, verification and corrective action steps including preventive actions
- Participate actively in the requirement to retain ISO9001/15 certifications
- Support the development of methods to reduce the costs of Quality Control and focus more on Continuous Improvement
- Validate inspection (customer) documentation and manage the preparation of specific quality documentations
- Process all internal production rejects, manage the quarantine and inspection procedure
- Manager containment of customer concerns/complaints ensuring confidence in the Company’s abilities to resolve all non-conformance issues
- Develop corrective plans and facilitate through to resolution
- Resolve supplier product quality issues to a satisfactory solution
- Minimises scrap and customer returns by instigating containment and root cause counter measures as required
The Person:
- Proven background in a customer facing Quality role ideally holding a professionally recognised Quality Engineering and/or Audit certificate
- With a good understanding of QMS and processes you will have a metals based Manufacturing background demonstrating strong knowledge of best practice within Manufacturing and Engineering industries
- Quality Inspection and Engineering experience is essential with ISO9001/15 knowledge. Some knowledge of H&S standards such as ISO14001 would be desirable
- Project Launch and APQP skills and a background in the use of PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, Pareto Analysis, Process Mapping, Fishbone diagrams, benchmarking and gap analysis is essential
- Having some auditing experience, you will demonstrate a collaborative style, be logical and systematic with well-honed problem-solving skills
- You will demonstrate use of root cause analysis and ideally possess supplier development experience utilising APQP, PPAP, FMEA and 8D/A3 tools
- An appreciation of working in a Lean environment; knowledge of 5S, Kaizen, Gemba etc
- Very customer driven, collaborative working style, team player
- Strong verbal/written communication skills, good attention to detail
- Professional, personable and approachable
- Problem-solver, logical and systematic approach, critical thinker and ability to work on own initiative
- Microsoft Packages, IT literate
