We are searching for a senior manager, a Lead EHS EMEAI, for our client operating in the chemical manufacturing sector. The Role:

The EHS Manager drives the Environmental, Health & Safety related culture, awareness and leadership at all levels across the organisation by developing, implementing and improving EHS management systems, policies and procedures. The incumbent ensures compliance with relevant external (e.g. ISO, Responsible Care) and internal (e.g. Corporate Compliance) standards and the effective use of tools (e.g. EPIC/Benchmark). The EHS Lead compiles reports and issues management system reviews to document performance and drive corrective actions. They are also tasked to ensure an adequate level of training and understanding in the EMEAI organisation in relation to EHS and also to support the Quality function across the region.

The responsibility is performed by following corporate directions and by striving for alignment with corporate (e.g. EHS, Regulatory) and regional functions in sites, sales and supply chain. The incumbent provides guidelines for the operational EHS organisations.  Site locations are in UK, France, Germany and Switzerland and you can be based in any of these locations. 

How You Will Make an Impact:

  • Drive EHS related culture, awareness and leadership at all levels across the organisation
  • Ensure regional implementation of corporate requirements, guidelines and standards, promote definition of EMEAI standards as well as implementation of best practice.
  • Lead the regional EHS initiatives, for meeting KPI targets and obtaining continuous improvement, ensuring timely reporting of performance and corrective actions.
  • Guide the preparation of expense forecasts for EHS in the region, analyse and approve EHS capital investments that best meet the business needs.
  • Actively participate as regional representative in the Group’s EHS steering team, ensuring two-way communication between region and the team, and drive implementation of initiatives.

The Person:

  • Educated to degree level with a professional qualification relating to EHS.
  • Experience of working in a Manufacturing organisation within the Environmental, Health & Safety function ideally in a Seveso/COMAH location. Experience of Quality Management / Continuous Improvement tools and techniques would be beneficial.
  • As an influencer, you will be able to drive the strategy across the sites whilst engaging with the EHS team to deliver results.  Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required and a great understanding of cultural nuances. 
  • Being autonomous, you will plan your travel accordingly based on deliverables and requirements in the plants. 
  • With flexibility to travel occasionally, you can be based in the UK, France, Germany or Switzerland and the organisation requires you to work from your base location 3 days per week.
